Tomatoes & basil & quiet time

Summer Repose

Summer is waning. There is much to look back upon and be thankful for.  My heart is full of things to share with you! But while the weather is pleasant, I’m spending a lot of time outdoors.  The camera is my invaluable assistant to track garden progress, capture inspiration, or record quiet moments.

Tomatoes & basil & quiet time

Enjoying fresh tomatoes with basil during quiet time. Take time to dream. With God, all things are possible!

This week is our county fair. For the past couple of years, I have used entry day as a deadline to have prints made and reflect back upon photos from the past year. One of my favorite images is from a visit to an art museum in Tulsa with our grandchildren. The villa is a magical place for me and I savor the memories of each visit.  This day was well spent with dear ones, and together we appreciated the beauty of design.

Philbrook Museum Gardens in Tulsa, OK

Looking toward the Philbrook Museum. The Italianate garden design was original to the structure and was recently updated with native plants.

Our family is walking through some transitions and challenges right now.  There are moments of fear and discouragement, yet much to be thankful for. Maybe you can relate. Your life may be full of cares, concerns and changes. God’s Word shares the hope that this world desperately needs. Do we want our days to be filled with hope, joy and peace?  (speaking for me, yes!…..)   I love this comforting verse!

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13.

Grace to you

I would go farther to say that your place is magical as well, like the museum of art in Tulsa. I see the same magical flavor in the art of your life, home, and gardens that I see in that amazing photo of the museum gardens. Wow. It is wonderful.

Dear friend, your encouraging words moved me to tears. I would never dream to compare with the glory of that place. I’m grateful for friendships to enjoy the magical beauty of life in our everyday lives. There is much to be grateful for!

Nothing says Summer to me like fresh and abundant tomatoes. My garden did not participate in summer this year (maybe next year?). I do seem to have the useless talent of growing basil really well. Just call me the basil whisperer. Basil anyone????? Is that hibiscus tea I spy in the back ground? Yum. Your table setting looks lovely by the way. I feel inspired to skip the paper plates and TV tray tonight, maybe use the good dishes and set the table. My poor husband will wonder what birthday/anniversary he’s forgotten 😀

Friend, you make me smile. 🙂 So how did skipping the paper plates work out for you? I have yet to see your new farmhouse table. I’m sure it looks glorious with your dishes on it!

I agree about fresh tomatoes. I never tire of their flavor, especially when accompanied by basil. Your talent of raising basil is far from useless. I would love to help you harvest some of those waist high plants of yours. Let me know when to show up with scissors and a smile. 🙂

Thanks for your sweet comment on the table setting. You know my philosophy on pretty dishes. If you have them, use and enjoy them!

I'd love to hear your thoughts
